Cavemen Win Homecoming

(Facebook: Mishawaka Touchdown Club)
It was a close call at Steele Stadium on Friday night. With Saint Joseph getting knocked out by Penn last week, they came to Steel Stadium looking for redemption, but came up short. Coming to a close win with a score of 20-24 in the last four minutes in the fourth quarter, Mishawaka had not let go of the fact that Saint Joseph beat them last season 25-27.
Indian kicker, Patrick Olivia, kicked a 37 yard field goal with 9:39 remaining. Quarterback Sam Shively scored a one-yard touchdown with 3:20 remaining, giving the Cavemen a two point lead.
Olivia, kicked a 43 yard field goal which was blocked by the Cavemen offense, reserving the last 18 seconds of the fourth quarter.
Mishawaka kicked a 18 yard field goal with 18 seconds left, giving the score of 26-24, giving the Cavemen a 6-1 record.
Friday night was also Homecoming for the Cavemen, where Offensive Captain CJ Fisher was crowned Homecoming King with Megan Fry as Homecoming Queen.
The Cavemen have their last home game this Friday against Mishawaka Marian, followed by the Backyard Brawl at Penn on Oct. 12.
