Espresso-ing Positivity: MHS Launches Cavemen Café

The Cavemen Café is creating opportunities for students, reinforcing positive choices, and building a program that can continue giving back to MHS.
Led by Assistant Principal Clara Bepe, the Cavemen Café is a new student-run coffee shop that combines real-world learning with a creative way to support positive student behavior at MHS. Proceeds from the café will help fund the school’s Positive Behavior Rewards Program, where students can redeem earned “Pebble Points” for rewards in the Pebble Store.
Senior NHS member Meral Farhan said,"It is so fun, I am fueling minds that will change tomorrow, one cup at a time." Farhan added that the most popular drink is the iced caramel latte. "This is a fun way to get my NHS volunteer hours."
The café officially opened its doors last week and is already giving students an opportunity to put valuable workplace skills into action. Four teams of students from National Honor Society (NHS), Business and Culinary classes help operate the café, gaining hands-on experience while earning volunteer hours and additional Pebble Points. Senior Leah Gradeless said "I'm excited to get the work experience and the students I work with are so much fun."
The Cavemen Café is currently open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7:15–7:45 a.m., adding another incentive for students to arrive at school on time. Plans are already underway to expand service to five days a week after fall break.
Rachel Sutch, MHS Choir teacher, and Bepe provide staff oversight, with Sutch also helping coordinate the café’s partnership with local coffee supplier Revenant Coffee.
It’s more than a morning cup of coffee.
