Make A Splash!

Late nights and faces stuffed with food are just around the corner for Mishawaka’s girls swimming and diving team. Since mid-September, both the girls and boys teams have been hard at work preparing for their seasons in preseason practices. However, this season is a little different compared to last year. At the end of last year's season, the boys’ Coach Brian rescinded, which left the school in a scramble to find a replacement. Thankfully, the girls’ coach, Bev Buysse, took on the job. Even though Bev is a tough cookie, she has some amazing assistant coaches helping her every day. Sue Miller is a returning assistant coach and Chris Klimzcak was hired at the beginning of the school year.

On November 15, the official season begins for the girls with a meet against Penn at Mishawaka. The next meet will follow on November 17 against Elkhart Memorial, which is also at Mishawaka. The girl's season will continue on until sectionals, which is on February 4th. The girls will compete against the teams they faced during the regular season at this meet!

The boy's team kicks off their season on November 22 with a meet against Elkhart Memorial at Mishawaka. After that, the girls and boys will compete together in their meets until girls have their sectionals. The boys will have their sectionals on February 18. Both the girls and boys would greatly appreciate fellow students and members of the community to come support them during their meets!

It is never too late to join the team and everyone is welcome! Swimming and diving is a great way to condition for fall and spring sports, and stay in shape through all the turkey and Christmas cookies. If interested, feel free to contact the coach at bbuysse@aol.com.

From ripped swim caps to smacking on the water, there's nothing the swim and dive team can't handle when it comes to the pool. The Alltold staff wishes both teams the best of luck this season!
