The MHS Dance Team, MDT, wrapped up their season on March 12th at their state competition. Led by head coach Christa Chavez and assistant coach Cecily Maes, the dance team had three first place wins. Seniors- Abbee Laplace, Abby Wood, Madison Springman, Kylee Kruger, Lexi Hunter, Autumn Kinnear, Anna Tosta, and Katie Mahoney- led the team.
Senior Madison Springman said about her time on the dance team, “This year we all put in a lot of work and in the end we got results out of it. We may not have won at state but we are still proud of what we accomplished!” She also says to any continuing dancers, “Keep working hard and doing [your] best!”
Competition season was rough for the girls, but they all worked hard and were very dedicated to their team. Highlights from the season were the competitions at Lake Central, Homestead and the state performance. The team was very focused and worked well together at competitions. The MDT also performed at halftime of many football and basketball games. All of the girls on the team are very committed to their craft and they practice very hard to compete as well as they did. It is very clear that these girls are a family on and off the dance floor.
This is a young team with a lot of potential for the coming years. Tryouts for next year's dance team will be in May.
