Once Upon A Time...

Updated: Aug 27, 2022

In a swamp far, far away...Mishawaka’s Thespian Society presents 2020’s spring show, Shrek the Musical. Based on the 2001 film, Shrek the Musical follows the story of an ogre, princess, and donkey. Shrek has a cast of over 40, an important aspect for a school as big as MHS.

“Shrek was chosen for a few reasons. One, we needed a musical that included a lot of people and lots of characters. The second reason is that it’s a popular name, and we wanted to bring in a lot of people. It’s also a show I knew I could do easily.” Jimmy Gardner, MHS theatre director said.

Because Gardner has such a diverse theatre experience he had the chance to perform as Donkey in Shrek the Musical for 2 years at a community theatre. This gives him an advantage when directing this show.

Many students came to auditions for the spring musical, Gardner explained that he has great confidence in everyone cast, and is very proud of all of them.

Aaron Hecklinski was cast as Shrek, Ramona Monroe as Donkey, Victoria Tiller as Fiona, and Ogre Fiona, Maximo Powell as Farquaad, and Gracey Lovitt as Dragon.

Shrek the Musical is showing in MHS’ auditorium March 13th and 14th from 7 pm to

9 pm, and March 15th 2 pm to 4 pm, come stop in to support your classmates.
