Princess Relays


On April 29th Mishawaka’s Senior Night was held at Elkhart Central, due to the conditions of the MHS track. The seniors of the 2016 girls track season are Ceci Taylor- has not decided, Precious Trejo- attending Bethel College, Alexis Jackey- attending Bethel College, Jessica Duvall- attending Bethel College, Queen Walker- attending Bethel College, and Kiera Pelletier- attending Colorado State. It is tradition that each senior is presented with a crown hence the name of the meet, Princess Relays.

As always to start the meet was the field events. Pole vaulting was senior, Ceci Taylor who placed 2nd with 9’ 00”. New to pole vaulting was Claudia Cates, placed 17th. Participating in long jump was Rylin Bagarus who placed 5th with 14’ 08”. Placing 16th was Asia Salazar with 13’ 05”. In high jump Skylar Madison placed 11th with 4’ 08”. Asia Salazar placed 12th with 4’ 08”. Throwing shot put was Brittney Hosler with 32’ 08” and placing 7th. Cameron Schultheis tied for 11th with 31’ 10”. Throwing discus was Devyn Miller with 97’ 07” placing 7th and Cameron Schultheis with 91’ 05”, placing 9th. In the distance 3200m run was Faith Quintana with a time of 11:53, placing 6th. Kiera Pelletier, placed 9th with a time of 12:09. Running the 300m hurdles was Rylin Bagarus with a time of 49.95, placing 5th. In the 4x200m relay was the team of Alexis Jackey, Inobia Bullock, Jada Graham, and DeiJana Smith. The team had a time of 1:53 and placed 5th overall. Senior Inobia Bullock, whom was hitting some of her fastest times of the season, commented “I just feel great. Everyone’s energy is positive and it has just been a good night for all of us.” The race she ran after commenting was the 4x400m, having a season’s best split time for that. In the 4x100m relay, the team of Precious Trejo, Alexis Jackey, DeiJana Smith, and Jada Graham placed 8th with 53.83. Running the distance 4x800 was Jessica Duvall, Haley Smith, Damaris Wyant, and Jennifer Khatthavong. The team placed 8th overall with a time of 10:41. The distance 2x3200 was run by the team of Faith Quintana, Kiera Pelletier, and Haley Smith. The team placed 3rd with 24:03. Running the Distance Medley was the team of Jessica Duvall, Rylin Bagarus, Damaris Wyant, and Faith Quintana. The team received 4th place with a time of 13:18. Running the 800m sprint medley was the team of Skyler Norris, Inobia Bullock, Kylee Stapleton, and Madison Kreil. The team placed 6th overall with 1:57. One of the famous races at Princess Relays is the 4x100m shuttle hurdle race. The race consists of two hurdles placed facing opposite of each other every two lanes. When the participants race the teams start from both ends running from one side to the other. The team that participated in this race was Kylee Stapleton, Rylin Bagarus, Kerri Clark and Precious Trejo. The team placed 7th overall with a time of 1:21. To finish the meet was the 4x400m race. Running the race was Inobia Bullock, Alexis Jackey, Jessica Duvall, and Madison Kreil. The team had a great race getting 3rd place with a time of 4:11.

Come see the girls in their Conference meets Tuesday May 10th and Thursday May 12th. Elkhart Central will be hosting the meets. This will also be a dual meet, boys and girls.

A special thanks to all of our seniors for giving their all every practice and being not just amazing athletes, but amazing role models, teachers, and friends. We will not forget you when you take the next step. Also congratulations to the four seniors staying local and signing with Bethel College- Jessica Duvall, Alexis Jackey, Precious Trejo, and Queen Walker. Go Cavemen!
