Second Ranked Mishawaka goes 2-0 after win over Valpo

It was nothing, but glory for the number two ranked 4a Cavemen at Steel Stadium last Friday night. The Cavemen beat strong 6A opponent Valparaiso, 29-20, earning them a 2-0 starts season. Senior running back Chris Harness ran a total of 172 yards with 25 carries while safety Cj Fisher and outside linebacker Nick Bodle combined for 27 tackles.

The game held special meaning to the senior players. It was their last home opener and the unveiling of the new scoreboard. “All the new equipment was cool but it was better seeing the big crowd.” Harness said “It was really nice going out for the last time but without the win, it wouldn’t have meant anything.” offensive linemen, Sam Rajski said

The win topped off the emotion of the night.. “It’s a good thing we did and it’s a good way to start off the new season with all this new stuff.”Harness said Rajski added “The feeling of being out there on the field with our bros for the last first time was everything.”

Senior wide receiver Caleb Crothers felt a hyped atmosphere. “I think more people came out to the game...probably for the board. Coach Kinder addressed that with us and reminded us we have a job to do and we did it.”

The Cavemen travel to Chicago tonight to take on Marist Academy.
