This Year’s Musical is One That People Will Be Dying to See!

Mishawaka’s thespians have a exciting musical to put on this spring: “Little Shop of Horrors”! Directed by Mishawaka High School alum Amy Jojo, this musical is not one you want to miss. Junior Justin Christensen is playing the lead male, Seymour Krelborn, who is a destitute flower shop employee who wants the best life possible for himself and his crush. His crush is named Audrey and is played by sophomore Caity Hess. The flower shop owner, a Czech man named Mr. Mushnik, is ready to give up. Just as things go south and the flower shop is closing for good, Seymour brings out a strange plant which may change things for him.

This plant is an “Audrey II”, a plant that looks like both an avocado and a Venus Fly Trap. The plant immediately brings fortune and fame to the small flower shop, leaving Seymour, Audrey, and Mushnik filled with orders that they are happy to fulfill. People flock to the shop and Seymour is a suddenly successful botanist, with people interviewing him and proposing opportunities for him, such as lecturing at colleges, being on the cover of magazines, and even having his own TV show!

However, even with all of his success and accomplishments, there is just one catch; the Audrey II is a bloodthirsty creature, who will sweet talk someone into giving it a fresh meal. Seymour is completely torn, because he could either risk keeping it alive for the lives of Audrey and himself, or kill it for the greater good. What will Seymour do? Come watch the show to find out!

This production is going to be performed on March 16 through March 18. Each show will start at 6:30 p.m., and all shows will be in the Mishawaka High School auditorium. Tickets will be five dollars each, and it is currently unknown if tickets will be sold prior to the show dates. The show has a mix of horror, music, comedy, and romance, so there is something for everyone. The show can be a bit morbid at times, but it is still family-friendly. If you are looking for a fun activity to do, come to this production! Not only is the cast extremely talented, but they are performing a classic show that will make you laugh, and also tug at your heartstrings.
