Valentine Shm-alentine

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, sending many people into overdrive to find a date in time. This is just plain unnecessary. I don’t think you have to have a day to tell someone you love them, and, on top of that, there is nothing wrong with being single. If you love or appreciate someone, tell them. Sure, it’s great to get flowers, chocolate, or a card from someone on Valentine’s Day, but it would be just as meaningful, if not more, to get those tokens of appreciation on an unplanned day. This shows that they aren’t just giving in to societal pressure, but, rather, they genuinely love and care for you. Of course it definitely fun to spend Valentine’s Day with your significant other, but you can do that on any day. What is easier for you, to love others or to love yourself? For many people it is difficult for them to love themselves, but I’m here to tell you you’re absolutely worth it. Go ahead and show yourself some love this Valentine’s Day. You are worth chocolate and flowers even if you don’t have a boyfriend or girlfriend that will give you some to you. Valentine’s Day is about love, so love you. Not everyone has a significant other to show love and appreciation to on Valentine’s Day. That doesn’t mean you don’t have someone to show love to. Make Valentine’s plans with whoever is special to you in your life: go out to eat with friends, make dinner for your family, or play a game with your younger siblings. No matter what you do, show love. After all, that’s what this holiday is all about.
